In 1998, there was a IAAPA Expo, (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attraction) Industry convention at the Orlando Convention Center. These things are big events. The two companies that made motion simulator rides were there. Elvira was involved with Iwerks Entertainment, and they just developed a themed ride that she was promoting. Superstition. Maybe you have been on one of these rides. You don't really move. Your seats do. They move in conjunction with what you are seeing on the movie screen. Terminator 3-D at Universal Studios is a good example. So that is why Elvira was at this convention. Promotion.

Elvira, aka, Cassandra Petterson, gained fame in 1981 at a Los Angeles TV station hosting Movie Macabre, a weekly horror show presentation. Her character gained fame, and she was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson. She has also produced a long running series of Halloween-themed ads for Coors and Mugs Root Beer. She also did guest roles on such shows as Chips, The Fall Guy, and Fantasy Island.

In 1982, Knotts Theme Parks hired her to host the annual Halloween Haunt during the month of October. Her Elvira character has spawned countless products throughout the 80's and 90's including costumes, action figures, comic books, and trading cards. Her character also produced a number of Elvira-themed computer games.

This is the 1988 Movie Cassandra Petterson starred in as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, which she co-wrote. A corny yet very funny movie. As always, she is terrific. She was also in the 1995 movie Pee- Wee's Big Adventure , playing herself, with her friend, Pee Wee, aka, Paul Ruebens.

When Elvira arrived at the front of the Orlando Convention Center, around 10 am, she was in a black stretch limo. She came in by herself and made her way to the back of the center, where the table was set up for her at the Iwerks booth.

What was really funny were the people at the center. They just froze as she walked by them. It was like they were shocked, and some or most might not have known she was going to be there.

Elvira with her personal assistant. She was so nice and gracious to everyone. Even posing for extra pictures when asked. I hate to be telling tales out of school, but when she took a break and went to the rest room, she had two people go with her to help her, obviously just to make sure her outfit was still in perfect shape.

What was really nice was even though
there were people waiting, she took the time to talk and answer every ones questions.

See. I told you she took the time to pose for extra pictures. Short story, she was getting ready to leave, and I had been wondering around and arrived just in the nick of time for this photo-op.

Cassandra Petterson was a really beautiful, nice, sexy, and gracious lady. It was a real treat to meet her.
